It's only the 12th of January, but so far monthly temperatures are almost ten degrees below the monthly average for the month.
After a near average start to the month, temperatures really took a hit last week when highs struggled to get out of the low single digits for most of the week. This also came with snow & wind only aiding in the brutal cold. And while it will be a cooler start to the work week this week, winds shifting around to the south will allow a little more mild air to invade the Plains and Midwest. This will give temperatures a boost back into the low, and even middle, 30's by the start of the weekend. Now, if you're looking for more cold to move back in, it doesn't look like we'll be seeing a return of the cold like we did last week any time soon.
