Nice weather is probably something you've been looking forward to seeing with the arctic air outbreak we saw a few days ago. And that is something we will see this weekend. Temperatures are expected to be above average in the upper 20's to perhaps middle 30's under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Not only will the temperatures be considerably warmer than where they were a few days back, but the sunshine will help make it feel even warmer!
The reason behind the nice stretch of weather is a dominant high pressure system moving into the region from the northwest. This will keep our winds relatively calm this weekend, and it will keep storm systems and much of the cloud cover away from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. It has been quite some time since we've seen temperatures above average in tandem with sunshine. With the chance for rain and snow on Monday, I encourage you to get out and enjoy this weekend's weather!
Looking into next week, it appears as though we will continue to trend of milder temperatures as only two of the next eight days are expected to be below average!
Our average high for this time of the year is 29°, and that total will likely be eclipsed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Truly arctic air does not appear to make a return in the foreseeable future, per the latest forecast models. However, it is important to remember things can change, so I would not completely rule out more arctic air before the winter officially comes to an end!
