Update: Friday Commute Forecast

Morning Update:  The threat for freezing rain is nearly gone this morning, but dense fog is still going to be an issue.  Visibility has dropped since sunrise and is near zero in many locations.  Skies will remain foggy through 10am/11am with haze remaining throughout the afternoon.  Temperatures right now are either at or below 32°.  It looks like by the time we get either drizzle or light rain, temperatures will be in the mid-30's.  Steadier rain continues to fall downstate and with the track of low pressure through southern Illinois into Ohio by tonight, the heaviest rainfall will remain south.  Lighter showers will move in closer towards Noon.

Friday Evening Post:
It's been quiet all week, but that will change on Friday with an area of low pressure passing to the south of the Stateline.

Light freezing drizzle and patchy fog will be possible Friday morning as temperatures to start the day sit at around 30°. No ice accumulation is expected, but a few slick spots and areas of low visibility should be enough for drivers to take it easy on the roadways.

The ice threat should be done by 9:00 or 10:00am, while the fog should be wrapping up by midday. Things are looking much quieter and drier by the afternoon as highs warm into the upper 30s. -BA
