Tuesday Afternoon Weather Update

Heavy rainfall came down for some late Tuesday morning and early afternoon, especially for areas south of Rockford.  The heaviest rain fell over Ogle, Lee and DeKalb counties with anywhere from one to two inches of rain being reported.

A Flood Advisory has been issued for DeKalb and far southern McHenry counties until 6pm Tuesday evening.  The heaviest rainfall will continue to move east with skies drying out for a couple hours (for some) late this afternoon.  An upper level low pressure system moving in over northern Iowa will keep the threat for scattered shower and thunderstorm activity lasting through the evening.

High amounts of moisture remain present in the atmosphere and this could lead to heavy rainfall with any showers or storms that do develop.  There have been reports of street flooding occurring in Rochelle and Sycamore, with nearly two inches of rain falling roughly 7 miles west of Rochelle.
