Light to moderate snow has been falling near the Mississippi River from Galena to Savanna and is currently moving southeast around 30-35 mph. There remains a lot of dry air in place across Northern Illinois so not much out ahead of the heavier snow band has been reaching the ground. There is, however, a band of snow just west of Monroe stretching south from Stockton to Savanna to Clinton, IA. Within this band brief periods of heavy snow will be possible reducing visibility to a half a mile or less. When the snow does move in roads and sidewalks my become slick and snow covered for a time through the early afternoon. Any accumulations will remain minor and less than an inch.
