Low pressure that brought heavy rainfall and severe weather to Iowa and Illinois Tuesday afternoon and evening is now producing very strong winds over the Midwest and Great Lakes. Peak wind gusts Wednesday have been between 50-55 mph.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect for Northern Illinois until 8pm and a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8pm for Southern Wisconsin. Wind gusts have been a little higher just north of the immediate state line - closer to the center of low pressure.
Winds won't be quite as strong overnight, but wind gusts still around 30 mph will continue into Thursday morning.
