Light snow is beginning to move in from Iowa late Tuesday evening. The atmosphere is still pretty dry over eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois so what's showing up over radar isn't quite reaching the ground just yet. But the snow is reaching the ground from Cedar Rapids to Davenport, IA.
The chance for snow will increase between 10pm and Midnight, becoming more widespread during the early morning hours of Wednesday. A quick 2-3 inches of snow will be possible from what comes down overnight before switching over to light freezing drizzle or freezing rain. The atmosphere loses a little moisture by Wednesday morning, and this is why there could be some freezing drizzle or light freezing rain, during the morning. Any ice accumulation should remain light but could add up to a tenth of an inch in some spots.
Temperatures will continue to warm above freezing, 32 degrees, by Wednesday afternoon helping to change any freezing drizzle/rain over to light rain.
