A new SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for Lee and Whiteside counties Thursday evening, lasting until 1am Friday morning. Thunderstorms have been quick to develop this evening south of Des Moines, IA and are currently move east/northeast. Instability has gone up over parts of northern Illinois with some breaks in the cloud cover earlier in the evening. Storm coverage is expected to increase after 8pm from the west and should continue through 1am/2am Friday morning.
The greatest risk with strong to severe storms locally will be wind, followed by hail. Heavy rainfall, however, with training thunderstorms could also become a concern through the night. Storms should be moving east of the Stateline by 3am.
