Don't let the radar fool you

9:30 am Update:  Light rain mixed with snow will continue to fall across northern Illinois as a weak cold front pushes east.  As the upper level disturbance moves through a few more scattered showers and even a rumble of thunder could be possible later this afternoon.

7:00 am Update: Even though showers are showing up on radar a lot of it is not reaching the ground.  The low levels of the atmosphere are still fairly dry and as the precip falls through that layer, it will likely evaporate before reaching the ground.  There are, though, a few light showers falling in Dubuque this morning so watch for a few sprinkles/flurries and even a light shower through the early afternoon.

This is all in response to a weak trough of low pressure moving through.  As an upper level disturbance slides down the western Great Lakes early this afternoon there could actually be a few more showers that develop.  Cooler temperatures aloft with the low may actually allow for some small hail to fall with some of the showers.  Once that passes by this evening skies should become partly cloudy tonight.
