A look back at March

Even though it may not have felt like it, March will go down as an overall above average month.  The monthly average temperature was 37.4° which is over a degree above normal.  The highest temperature during the month occurred on St. Patrick's Day where the thermometer reached 67°.  Believe it or not, the coolest low was the morning of the 27th where we dipped down to 20°.

We came out on top also in terms of precipitation.  A total of 3.41" fell which put us 1.02" above normal.  A new record of 1.67" fell on the 20th.  In the snowfall department, however, only a tenth of an inch fell which is a whopping 5.5" below the snow average.

Looking forward from this point on it appears as if the La Nina conditions we've experienced this past winter will continue, but weaken, through June.  So what would this mean in terms of our spring.  It looks like temperatures may actually be at or below average for the overall month of April.  As far as precipitation, lets just say you might want to keep those umbrellas handy.
