Warmer Toward the End of the Week

There will be variable cloudiness overnight with light easterly winds. The low temps will be around 30 degrees.  On Monday mostly cloudy skies will prevail, and once again high temperatures will be in the cool upper 40's.  A Clipper type system is diving southeast across western Iowa with some light rain showers that will graze western Illinois.   This is the same system that will streak toward the Gulf of Mexico, pick up energy, and spin up as a significant nor'easter along the east coast off North Carolina by Wednesday. Clouds associated with the Iowa low will make for a mostly cloudy day across the Stateline on Monday.  The next system to affect the Stateline will approach from the northwest on Tuesday.  The wind will pick up from the southwest in advance of the sytem and run 15 to 25 mph by afternoon.  It will be cloudy with some light rain showers likely on Election Day.  The afternoon temperature will nudge up toward 50 degrees.  Some widely scattered light rain showers may linger into the early evening on Tuesday night.  It will become partly cloudy, and the low will be around 32 degrees.  Canadian high pressure settling southeastward across the central plains will make for mostly sunny skies on Wednesday.  It will be cool with a light northwesterly breeze yielding an afternoon high in the upper 40's.  By 6 am on Wednesday morning, major intensification of the developing nor'easter will be taking place just east of the North Carolina coast.  By Thursday morning at 6 am, a very intense storm will be spinning not far off  the New Jersey coast line, with the potential for coastal flooding, and more wind damage on up the coast through NYC, Long Island, and eventually the New England coast.  At the same time our area will be tranquil under mostly sunny skies as high pressure moves across northern Illinois.  The high temperatures across the Stateline are expected to be in the low 50's on Thursday. On Friday the high will be over Kenturcky, and a southwesterly wind will develop in advance of a strong storm system moving out of the Rockies into the central plains.  The warmer air moving in from the south will push temperatures into the middle to upper 50's under partly cloudy skies.  By Saturday morning an intense low pressure storm systemn will be located over eastern South Dakota.  It will be very windy and warm across northern Illinois with afternoon temperatures reaching the low to middle 60's.  Scattered showers will develop in the more humid air coming northward out of the Gulf of Mexico.  Very mild air will be in place across the Stateline on Saturday night with lows holding above 50 degrees all night.  The cold front will push into the area on Veteran's Day with showers likely.  It will not be as warm with a high in the middle 50's.
