Sunny Start, Rain Moves In Late!

We are off to a beautiful start to the day as we have clear skies and abundant sunshine across the region. It all start with a cold front that passed through yesterday which cleared things up last night. A weak high pressure system has taken over the region and continues to work its magic as it is helping to keep weather conditions quiet for the first half of the day!

Our skycams over Rochelle and the Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport show those stunning crystal blue skies overhead. It's definitely a great morning to walk your dog, go out and exercise or even swing the clubs at the golf course.

The sunshine won't last very long as we expect clouds to be on the increase this afternoon.  Skies will become overcast by 3 PM. but we look remain dry throughout the rest of the afternoon. Rain chances will increase starting around 6 PM, just at the end of the evening commute.

Overall, the rain will be light at first. But as we continue into tonight and tomorrow morning, rain could be heavy at times. Especially during the early hours tomorrow morning.

We could even expect maybe a few flakes to mix in up towards the north in Southern Wisconsin. Either way, roads will be a slick to start off the morning tomorrow. It would definitely be a good idea to give yourself extra time when driving out on the roads tomorrow morning!

As far as accumulations, we can expect near .50" in most spots with areas off towards the south closer to the .75" mark.

Not only will rain continue to be in the forecast, you will definitely feel a bit of a temperature difference. A boundary is still set to stall out in central Illinois which will act as a barrier and keep all the warm air off to the south. For us here in the Stateline, we will be stuck with easterly flow keeping temperatures on the cool side.
