Winter 2011-12... One for the Record Books?

It's possible that the winter of 2011-12 will rank among the mildest winters in Rockford history. So far, our average temperature (highs and lows together) since Meteorological Winter began on December 1st is 30.2 degrees. If winter ended right now, this would be good enough for our 3rd mildest winter on record!

Although we are expecting temperatures to be somewhat below average this weekend, the cool-down should be brief. The long-range prediction is for temperatures to remain above normal through the end of the month.
