It was all about location Sunday that determined whether or not you saw snow or rain. While places from Monroe to Warren to Dubuque picked up between one and two inches of snowfall the majority of the Stateline dealt with light rain through Sunday evening.
The lack of any measurable snowfall across the area continues to add up. Official climate records are from the Chicago/Rockford Int'l Airport and as of yesterday, Sunday, we have had 280 days without measurable snowfall. Measurable snowfall is considered snow over a tenth of an inch and usually by this point in December we have had something. The record for the longest stretch without measurable snow is 287 days and that was set back in 1922. There is a weak upper level disturbance that will swing through this afternoon and that may provide a couple tenths of an inch of snow for some in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. If we don't receive anything measurable today the days will continue to add up this week with temperatures warming through the weekend.
