This summer's weather was dominated by a severe drought across the Stateline, but just because the weather is starting to turn colder doesn't mean the drought is over. In fact, this year could be record breaking for all the wrong reasons.
Starting in January and going through November, 2012 has been the driest year on Record for Rockford. The overall driest year on record was 1910, when we received 22.87" of precip. With Monday's showers and storms, Rockford is sitting at 21.34" of total precipitation.
But there is some good news. Our weather pattern is looking to become a little more active over the coming week. The latest 7-Day forecast has rain or snow chances Thursday night, Friday night, Sunday, and Monday. It won't be enough to break our drought, but it's a start.
