After a quick, but intense, burst of snow came down Tuesday afternoon, another round of snow will fall this morning and afternoon. This time, the accumulating snow will be focused south of the Stateline.
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for counties along I-80 as several inches of snow could fall from Nebraska, southern Iowa, northern Missouri, west-central and central Illinois. Further north, the snow will be light and at most only accumulate up to a couple tenths of an inch of snow.
High pressure will pull cold, Canadian air down into the Plains today and eventually into the Midwest and Great Lakes tonight. It's the cold from the north interacting with the moisture from the Pacific that is currently leading to the snow Wednesday morning. Skies will stay cloudy through the day with temperatures remaining in the upper teens. As skies clear tonight, the wind will remain elevated through sunset causing the temperature to fall quickly this evening. We'll go from the teens around 4pm/5pm down to the
single digits by 8pm. Overnight lows will fall below zero, and as cold as -10 degrees in outlying areas. The last time the temperature was that cold was back on January 10th when the mercury fell to -9 degrees.
