River Levels Reach Moderate Flood Stage

Local rivers continue to rise with the recent heavy rainfall from the weekend.  The IDNR has closed the Rock and Pecatonica rivers to boat traffic until further notice, and boat launches throughout Winnebago County have also been closed.

The isolated storms that developed Tuesday afternoon did bring heavy downpours, but they were fairly brief and likely didn't contribute to the ongoing flooding along the local rivers.  But river levels continue to rise as more water drains into the river basin, causing many locations to reach minor & moderate flood stage.  Current forecasts have a few places along the Rock and Pecatonica River cresting in moderate flood stage, but very close to major flood stage.

The break in the rain will be brief as more is on the way for Wednesday, and possibly Thursday through Saturday.  Click here to stay up-to-date with the current river levels and forecasts.

If you live along any of the rivers make sure to continue to monitor forecasts, and potential rises on the river.  And should action need to be taken due to flooding, make sure to listen to authorities.
