There's an awful lot of white on the radar over the Stateline tonight, but the "bark" is worse than the "bite" in this case since much of the snow isn't reaching the ground. At the last hourly observation (10pm), none of the Stateline stations in the Illinois weather round-up -- including Freeport on the west end -- reported snow. This is all despite the fact that the leading edge of the precipitation is now as far east as Boone county on the radar picture.
Eventually, this snow will begin to reach the ground as the low-levels of the atmosphere continue to moisten. However, the 2-4" totals we've been talking about may turn-out to be more like 2-3" in most areas. Areas south of I-80, however, could see 4-6" of snow.
