Dry Stretch of Weather Continues

We are 10 days into the month of September and have only recorded 0.07 inches of rainfall.  The nice and comfortable weather has definitely been wonderful, but we are entering into a pretty significant dry stretch.  The last time Rockford received any measurable rainfall over a tenth of an inch was back on the 28th of August when over two inches of rain fell.

National Drought Mitigation Center
Updated September, 5th.
Officially, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin are under any drought conditions considered under the National Drought Mitigation Center.  However, it's possible that the 'abnormally dry' conditions could be extended a bit further north to include parts of northern Illinois with its next update.  This is put together on Tuesdays and then released to the public Thursday mornings.

With high pressure dominating our skies through much of the week, rainfall will be few and far between.  As the remnants of Hurricane Irma get caught up in the jet stream this week, some of the moisture will pulled north into Illinois.  Cloud cover should be increasing from south to north during the afternoon and evening Tuesday, with only a small chance for showers arriving on Wednesday.  After that, our next chance for rain won't arrive until Sunday - a week from today - with the passage of a cold front.
