Dense Fog Advisory issued for some

Northeasterly flow across the region continues to pull moisture off of Lake Michigan, allowing a more widespread round of dense fog to develop.

In addition to that, temperatures for all of our locales are sitting below 32-degrees prior to sunrise. This will bring the likelihood for freezing fog, which will result in frost as well as the potential for few slick spots ahead of the morning commute.

For that, the National Weather Service has placed Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb County in N. Illinois as well as Rock and Walworth County up in S. Wisconsin under a Dense Fog Advisory. This advisory will run until 10AM as visibility be as low as a 1/4 mile or less.

Ways to stay safe while traveling through dense fog:

1. Travel slowly and with caution.

2. low-beams on, no brights.

3. Increase following distance from other vehicles.
