Wide Swinging in the Temperatures (Again) in Next 7 Days

A brisk southeasterly air flow has developed on the backside of retreating cold high pressure over the northeastern states. So, there was a nice recovery in temperatures after the recent cold snap to around 30 degrees on Sunday afternoon.  The southerly winds will back off a little overnight, but temperatures will not drop much... with a low in the middle 20's. With the warmer air sliding across the cold snow field, there could be some fog overnight, and possibly some freezing drizzle after midnight.  The fog and freezing drizzle will linger into the morning on Monday. Temperatures will rise above freezing before noon.  Areas of fog will persist off and on through at least mid afternoon, and there cold be some light rain in the afternoon. A cold front will push through later in the afternoon, and on Monday night precipitation may change to light freezing rain for a time before changing over to snow. There could be a accumulation of an inch or so overnight, and possibly a slight accumulation on Tuesday morning before the precipitation ends. It will be windy and colder on Tuesday with a high of around 26 degrees. Wind chills on Tuesday with be from zero to 10 above.  Skies will clear on Tuesday night, and the temperature will plummet close to zero, and the wind will subside to light and variable overnight.  Arctic high pressure will sit over the area on Wednesday providing mostly sunny skies, light winds, and cold temperatures with the temperature struggling to get to 20 degrees during the afternoon. The next clipper system will move across the northern great Lakes on Thursday dragging a new slug of Canadian air behind it.  The high will only be in the upper teens with a slight chance of a little light powdery snow.  The next distubance on Friday has a better chance of producing some snow, and temperatures will start to moderate...  reaching the upper 20's.  A warming trend will set in for the weekend with 32 degrees expected on Saturday, and it could even be back in the low 40's on Sunday with a chance of some rain.
