Pattern change expected by the end of the week

Quiet weather continues across the middle of the country for the next few days with the main, active part of the jet stream well to the north.  Two cut-off low pressure systems, one in the southwest and one in the southeast, will continue to bring rain and thunderstorms to those parts of the country.  With the main flow of the jet stream in southern Canada there is no real big push to move either low until the jet stream dives south by the end of the week.

Temperatures the next few days will remain in the 70s across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  The only exception will be along the lake shore as an onshore winds keeps temperatures there cooler.  A strong cold front will dive south late Friday allowing a cooler air mass to dip into the Great Lakes by Saturday and Sunday.  Highs will drop into the low 60s Saturday, but may have a hard time even reaching 60° by Sunday.
