UPDATE: Tornadoes Possible on Sunday

Tornadoes in November? It's a possibility on Sunday. Though it's uncommon, remember just 3 years ago we saw a damaging tornado in Caledonia. Historically, November tornadoes in the Stateline have been "significant"--rating an EF-2 or higher. So if we see any tornadoes on Sunday, there's a strong possibility that they will be quite damaging.

The other concern is the possibility for high wind gusts.  On Saturday, we saw plenty of gusty winds peaking around 40mph.  Winds may gust up to 50mph on Sunday, even without the threat of thunderstorms.  Because of this, there is a wind advisory in effect for our southern counties of Whiteside, Lee, & DeKalb from 10am til 8pm Sunday. However, if the storms form a squall line, gusts could be even higher than that in the 60-80mph range.

What's the severe weather timing?  Overnight Saturday into Sunday we could see a few isolated strong storms drop some hail, but the main line of storms will move into the Mississippi River area early Sunday from 6-9am, push west of I-39 before noon, and then move into our eastern counties in the early afternoon. Get your severe weather plan ready! Where will you go if there's a tornado? How will you keep you and your family safe? Make sure you have answers to these important questions! And be sure to share this with your family and friends as November severe weather events are uncommon and many may not be expecting it! - MT
