First Chance For Severe Weather In 2014

Saturday will not only mark another day of 70s across the Stateline, but our first chance of seeing severe weather this spring.

The Storm Prediction Center has the entire Stateline under a Slight Risk for severe weather on Saturday. If we were to see any strong storms, strong winds and hail would be the main concerns. The tornado threat should stay very low.

SPC Severe Weather Outlook - Saturday
As for the timing of this system, a few scattered storms will be possible Saturday afternoon with more likely storm chances Saturday evening and overnight. As you can see to your right, Futurecast has the heaviest of the storm activity late Saturday evening... right around 11:00pm.

Even if we miss out on severe weather Saturday, the threat for heavy rain still lingers into Sunday. Just like Saturday, it looks like the worst of the rain would be later Sunday evening and into the overnight. A good inch or two of rain will be possible between Saturday night and Sunday. Areas with stronger thunderstorms could see even more rain by the time this system moves out on Monday.

As always, if there is any severe weather to contend with, we'll have you covered on WTVO 17, FOX 39, MyStateline.com and the First Warn Weather Blog. -BA
