The weather will be changing, and it could be changing into a soggy and stormy weather pattern. The weekend will be quiet, but several rounds of rain and thunderstorms next week may be just enough to push us over in rainfall.
The jet stream will shift to a pattern that takes the strongest winds across the Midwest and Great Lakes next week. At the same time, a stationary boundary will set up very close to southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, bringing with it a daily chance for rain. Not every hour of every day will be rainy, but it looks like we'll see more rain than what we've experienced within the past month.
The stationary front will move very little from Sunday night through next Thursday because it will be running parallel to the winds within the jet stream. Often times when this happens, there is a prolonged period of rainfall. And, this could be the case next week. A frontal boundary that is orientated in the same direction as the jet stream has very little opportunity to move. It won't be until the end of the week when a dip in the jet stream will force low pressure to pull the front east. It's too early to tell when the heaviest rain will fall, or when/if thunderstorms will occur. But for some, a decent amount of rain could be in the works.
After next week, the pattern looks fairly progressive with the possibility of rain coming every few days.
