Storm Threat Goes up Friday

Get your umbrellas and rain boots ready, we've got a few rounds of rain and storms possible over the next couple of days. While there is a chance for rain almost everyday out of the next seven, most of those days only hold an isolated chance for rain/thunder. But, storms looks to be more widespread in coverage for Friday.

A complex of storms will develop over the Plains late today and move east into Iowa overnight. As a strong wave moves through the jet stream up above, warm air also moves into the area. This would be enough to support those storms to hold together as they lift northeast across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin Friday morning. With high moisture levels its possible for heavy rain Friday morning and Friday afternoon, with some rain totals near .5"-1.00" possible.

We'll still hold onto the chance for more scattered showers and storms Friday afternoon and evening, but additional development will hinge on what happens Friday morning.

Make sure to check back for more forecast updates!
