Rain free, unseasonably warm weekend ahead

The warming trend that rounded out the warmest February on record is set to stick around into the first few days of Meteorological Spring.

A quick reminder, Meteorological Spring includes the stretch of days between March 1st and May 31st. It's during this 3 month period in which we see our biggest climb in average high temperatures. We also see an uptick in rainfall averages!

Sunshine looks to kick off the meteorological spring season. However, a weak disturbance tracking into central Illinois will help gradually turn our skies mostly cloudy by the mid-day hours.

With this additional cloud cover could come the low chance for a shower or two, especially in areas along and south of Interstate 88. Still, Friday features a breeze out of the south, which should allow highs to  warm close to the 50° mark.

Spring will hold true to its name over the weekend as highs climb back to unseasonably warm levels.

Southwest winds will push temperatures into the low 60s Saturday, then into the low 70s Sunday. In even better news, we get to enjoy these extremely warm temperatures under partial sunshine. Our next cold front then dives into the Monday, resulting in our next best chance for rain over the next 7 days!
