Storms move out of northern Illinois, tranquil times ahead

The passage of last night's cold front marked the end of a record breaking stretch.

A northeasterly breeze will leave high temperatures this afternoon in the low 50s, which lands 20°-25° cooler than Sunday and Monday.

Lingering showers and cloud cover early on will gradually give way to afternoon sunshine, with conditions staying quiet overnight.

More of the same is on the table for Wednesday, with highs peaking in the low 50s.

It won't be until late Thursday night where our next rain chance arrives, with rain remaining likely for much of the day Friday.

The track of our late week storm system will allow highs to land closer to average, with 40s lingering though the upcoming weekend.
