More Like Early April Than Mid May.....
A complex weather pattern will continue across the upper midwest through the early part of the week. One upper low is situated over the low Ohio Valley, and another is over the eastern Dakotas. Together, they are drawing moisture up and over cool air the is pouring into the midwest from the north. It will be breezy overnight with occasional rain showers. Temperatures will not fall much under the clouds and the rain with a low in the middle 40's. Winds will be a factor contributing to general discomfort with a brisk wind from the north at 17 to 25 miles an hour. The winds will get stronger from the northeast tomorrow, and be in the 20 to 30 mph range with some higher gusts. Rain showers will continue off and on through the morning hours on Sunday, and become scattered in the afternoon with just light amounts expected. Skies may start to break in the late afternoon. Skies will be clearing on Sunday night, and there will be a chance of some scattered frost north and west of Rockford late Sunday night. Monday will be a sunny day with Canadian high pressure taking control. The high temperature will be around 60 degrees. That's well below the average high for this time of year which is 71 degrees. With the high pressure ridge sitting right over the area on Monday night along with clear skies, low dew points, and light winds... there will be a chance of areas of frost with the temperature dropping to around 35 degrees by 6 am.
