The sunshine we have this morning may help to fuel a few stronger storms later today. All of the WTVO forecast area has been placed under a slight risk for this afternoon as there are a couple disturbances moving through western Iowa and Missouri. Now yesterday our atmosphere remained capped which kept any storms from developing.
Today, however, those disturbances will help provide the lift needed in the atmosphere to break the cap and allow for storm develop. We're watching out in eastern Iowa this morning as an already unstable atmosphere is in place and a weather watch may be needed. Closer to home, upper level soundings show we do have a fairly unstable airmass in place so as those disturbances move through, storms could form with large hail and very gusty winds. The tornado threat is low, but there could be an isolated tornado somewhere across the Midwest. Be sure to keep checking back for all the latest information.
