Mid-Morning Weather Update

Here are the radar rainfall estimates starting yesterday and running through this morning.  Notice the heaviest swath of rain stretching from the Quad Cities and points eastward right along I-88 and then the heavy rainfall from those damaging wind gust storms in southern Wisconsin through Green and Rock counties.  Pockets of 3" or greater amounts can be found in those areas.  These estimates are similar with some of the totals that have come out so far this morning.

8:50 am Update: Severe weather threat continues to diminish this morning as the cluster of storms, or MCS, has moved east.  The atmosphere has stabilized some because of the morning rain showers so any more storms from the west should continue to weaken.  The boundary remains to our south and will continue to be the focus for additional storm development later today and into the overnight.  Because of the high moisture content in the atmosphere any storms that do form will continue to pose a heavy rain threat.  This would only increase the flooding potential for some folks as some areas have received close to five inches of rainfall from the storms last night and this morning. Mostly cloudy to cloudy skies will stay with us throughout the day.
