Tropical Storm Nate
As Meteorologist Candice King mentioned in a previous post, the southern Gulf of Mexico was/is an area of concern for tropical development this week. Sure enough, we now have Tropical Storm Nate located about 140 miles west of Campeche, Mexico. Nate has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is nearly stationary. Uncertainty in Nate's track is fairly high at this point, but it appears that southern and eastern parts of Texas could see some needed rainfall with this. Unfortunately, it could be too much rain at once and it could come with high winds and heavy surf. Nate could become a hurricane by Friday, so this system bears watching!
