Chilly Weather to Continue for a Few Days

Canadian high pressure continues to ridge southward out of a center over northern Manitoba near the southwest shore of Hudson Bay through Wisconsin and Illinois.  A northwest flow aloft continues to gently pump chilly Canadian air into the midwest and the northeast.  There will be very little change in the synoptic pattern through Monday with the Canadian high contining to dominate Stateline weather.  There will be variably cloudy skies tonight and through mid day on Sunday. The low tonight will be near 30 degrees, and the high on Sunday will be in the upper 40's with light northerly to light northeasterly winds.  By mid afternoon on Sunday skies will become mostly sunny, and it will be mostly clear and cool again on Monday night with a low near 30 degrees.  On Tuesday the high will shift off to the east, and the next weather system to affect the upper mid west will slide southeastward across the northern plains.  Clouds will increase, and there could be some light rain showers.  It will be cool again under the clouds with a high in the upper 40's.  There  could be some lingering light rain showers on Tuesday evening.  Cool air following in behind the departing system with keep temperatures from rising higher than the upper 40's again on Wednesday under partly cloudy skies.  A ridge of high pressure sitting over Wisconsin and Illinois early on Thursday will make for a mostly sunny day with slowly moderating temperatures into the low 50's by early afternoon.  At the same time models are generating a nor'easter off the New Jersey coast.  If the models verify, this will be horrible news for the heavily damaged New Jersey coast northward into New York City and long Island with high winds and more coastal flooding possible.  This is almost a worst case scenario, and hopefully the models have this system all wrong.  Stateline weather will continue to improve on Friday with mostly sunny skies once again, and a good southerly breeze pumping temperatures back up above seasonal averages into the upper 50's.  A brisk southerly breeze will be in place on Saturday, so temperatures will continue to warm  into the low 60's.  A warm front will move into the area from the south, and there could be some scattered showers.
