Winter Storm Timeline

Our next winter storm is going to be a tricky one. Below is a basic timeline of what we're expecting for the Stateline starting tonight and heading into Thursday. Remember that a slight change in the movement of this storm could mean big changes in the forecast. Regardless, things are looking messy for Thursday. Use extreme caution if you're out and about. Illinois
This evening: Areas of dense fog possible as melting snowpack provides moisture to go along with milder temps.
Tonight after midnight: Freezing rain possible.
Thursday morning: Wintry mix of rain/snow/sleet. Some Freezing rain still possible
Thursday late morning/midday: Could see a brief period of all rain, but wintry mix still possible.
Thursday afternoon: Switchover to snow. Accumulations of 1-3" will be possible for Winnebago and Boone counties. McHenry county could see slightly more snow. Accumulations of less than 2" will be possible for areas south and west of Rockford.

Wisconsin
This evening: Light snow will be possible, especially around the Monroe area. Sleet and freezing rain could mix in.
Tonight after midnight: Snow showers. Areas of sleet and freezing rain possible.
Thursday morning: Wintry mix continues.
Thursday afternoon: Snow showers. Accumulations of up to 6" will be possible, especially in Rock and Walworth counties.
