It took awhile but we finally did it, temperatures hit 50° today! Once the fog burned away this morning, there was plenty of sun and temperatures across the area were able to warm into the mid 50s. That's about 10° warmer than where we should be for this time of year.
It's been awhile since we've seen warmth like this. The last time we hit 50° was back in December, and the last time we saw a 60° temperature was all the way back in the beginning of November. There are multiple 50s in the forecast, and we have a couple shots of hitting 60°. Now that the snow is melting, its getting easier to see more warming at the surface. The snow reflects the sunlight and we don't see or feel the warmth at the surface, something that's called the Albedo Effect.
Temperatures were able to warm into the 60s and even 70s to the south and west of us, where they have a lower snow depth. While there are no 70s in the forecast there is at least one 60°day and possibly another, before temperatures dip back to normal levels by midweek.
