'December-February warmest on record'
That was one of the headlines that came out earlier this week from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center. Every landmass across the globe registered above average temperatures, with the exception of parts of the Great Lakes, East Coast and deep south. The average temperature for both global land and ocean surfaces was 1.42°F above the 20th century average. This makes the winter of 2013/2014 the highest on record since record keeping began in 1880.
