What's With the Fog?

It's been a foggy and hazy day across the Stateline area. A Dense Fog Advisory was in effect this morning and now another has been issued for tonight and lasting until Wednesday morning at 9am. Visibilities will drop below a quarter mile visibility at times tonight so make sure to flip on your low beams and leave a little extra room between cars. There is a few reasons we're seeing the fog tonight. One of those is because of the added moisture in the atmosphere because of all of the snow melting we've seen the past couple of days. Also winds from the south brought in more moisture and dew points were able to rise into the upper 30s, something we haven't see in quite some time. Clear skies and light winds are also something we have tonight, and that has an affect on the fog as well. Weak winds aren't able to mix out the low level moisture, and that's why we are seeing the fog. By tomorrow a weak cold front will have passed, that will allow winds to shift to the north, and will work in drier air. High pressure builds in from the north and that will help clear skies tomorrow. Once the fog is burned up we will be able to work on warming the temperatures, and 50s will be a possibility.
