We'll start off the work week on the quiet side, high pressure builds across the area through Monday. That keeps the clouds at bay and temperatures will climb into the upper 20s. But a low pressure system tracking across the plains will bring a little bit of everything through Tuesday evening. A short wave ahead of the system will help to fire up snow late Monday evening/early Tuesday. As the low tracks closer the freezing line will sit right over the Stateline area. That will allow for a mix of snow, sleet, and rain through Tuesday afternoon and evening. It looks like the mix will occur around the morning commute on Tuesday. Good news is, if ground temperatures stay on the warmer side like they did today, we won't see much accumulation on the roads. But, elevated roads and bridges will have a better chance to see some of the mix accumulating. Still, even if we see more rain, you'll want to leave a little more time to get where you need to go. The mix will switch over to rain as temperatures warm in the afternoon. Keep an eye out for minor flooding as our thick snow pack begins to melt with the rain and warmer temperatures. The 'warm up' won't last long though, temperatures will crash behind a cold front, with highs in the teens on Wednesday.
