A mostly sunny sky Thursday afternoon will give temperatures a boost into the upper 80's and low 90's area wide. With dew points climbing into the low, possibly middle 70's, the heat index temperature will once again climb into the low 100's. Thankfully with this heat wave, it doesn't last like it did a couple weeks ago.
Strong storms will fire up along and ahead of a cold front from Western Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northern Iowa late in the afternoon Thursday and Thursday evening. As the front travels south into Southern Wisconsin there will be a few storms possible, but those don't look like they'll occur until after 11pm. A few lingering showers & storms are possible early Friday, but by peak heating Friday afternoon the front will have passed to our south taking the storm threat with it.
Highs for the weekend will be in the low 80's, a little more seasonable (and comfortable) for the beginning of August.
