The Spring and Fall seasons are often referred to as 'transition'
seasons because it is a transition between the Summer and Winter months.
It's often during those transition months we can tend to get the most
extreme weather, such as large temperature swings and very strong storm
systems.
The month of November can often see such extremes as we begin to
transition closer and closer to the Winter season. The average high
temperature during the month drops 17 degrees from beginning to end, the
highest temperature drop during the Fall season. Average highs at the
beginning of the month are typically in the mid-50s, but then fall into
the upper 30s by the end of the month. Rainfall tends to decrease
during the colder months with just a little over two and a half inches
of precipitation occurring. Average snowfall begins to climb, with
November's average around 1.7 inches - although we know the snow can
definitely add up to more than that during this month. December is, on
average, our snowiest month out of the Winter season with 11.3 inches
falling.
Unfortunately temperatures this week will feel more like the middle to
end of the month with highs only expected to reach the low to mid 40s
early in the week, but then the 30s by the end of the week.
