Wednesday morning update

4:45 pm Update: Preliminary snowfall totals
If you have any snowfall totals, please share.  Send them to: weather@wtvo.com

7:30 am Update: Heavier snow bands developing in southeast Wisconsin and closer to I-80 as the back edge of the snow crosses over the Mississippi River in northwest Illinois.  Several accidents have been reported due to the snow this morning, so take it slow!

Here are a few snow totals we've received so far this morning across the area:

Lena: 3.0"
Capron: 2.9"
Freeport: 2.8"
Elizabeth: 2.6"
Belvidere: 2.0"
Apple Canyon Lake: 2.0"
Kingston: 1.3"
Rockford Airport: 1.1" (as of 6am)

Snow, moderate at times, will continue through 9am this morning.  Under the heavier bands of snow totals could near 3" to 4", but most will end up between 2" to 3".

A Winter Weather Advisory continues for Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin through mid-morning as the back edge of the snow will be east of I-39 by Noon.  Roads will be slick and snow covered this morning, so make sure you allow yourself extra time.  Many roads, even some of the plowed roads, will be down to one lane as the snow continues to fall.  Conditions will improve a little through the afternoon.
