Stormy Weekend

The storm threat for the past week has been centered over the southern plains, but that will begin to shift closer to the area through the weekend. By early Friday evening we'll start to see scattered showers and thunderstorms but no severe weather is expected. The rain, which could be heavy at times, will continue overnight Friday into early Saturday following a cold front. The rain moves out though early Saturday morning and we see a lot of dry hours through Saturday afternoon. The cold front that passed Friday evening stalls to the south and brings more rain and storms late Saturday evening through Sunday.
On Sunday the threat for strong thunderstorms lines us just west of the Stateline with our next low pressure system. Monday will also be stormy, but now the highest risk for strong to severe storms shifts farther east of the Stateline, into Indiana and Ohio. Though the area isn't highlighted for severe weather, stronger storms are still possible Sunday into Monday. It's still a little far out to tell with great certainty, so we will continue to keep you updated on the storms. It won't be the driest Mother's Day weekend, but there will be many dry hours to enjoy!
