Losing daylight

If you've noticed the sun comes up a little later in the morning and sets earlier in the evening, you're not alone!

Since June 21st - which is the summer solstice - we've managed to lose 1 hr and 40 minutes of daylight!  Our average daily temperatures follow this trend and have also decreased since the 'peak' of the summer heat in July.  As we lose the longer days needed to sustain the summer warmth, the average daily temperature - and most times actual high temperatures - tend to decrease more rapidly.  The winter solstice - December 21st - is the shortest day of the year when the sun will rise at 7:22am and set at 4:27pm giving us just a little over 9 hours of daylight.  Don't worry, though.  After that, the days slowly get longer again.  However, we typically feel the heart of winter's chill during the months of January and February.
