String of 90 degree heat

Sunday marked the 3rd consecutive day where high temperatures reached 90 degrees in Rockford!  Monday could very well make it number four, but incoming cloud cover could cause us to fall just shy of that mark.  Even if we don't hit 90 degrees, it's still going to feel hot & humid.

Dew point temperatures will be running close to 70 degrees (tropical-like air mass).  This will help add a little fuel to the fire for potential thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening.

With the higher amount of moisture in the atmosphere, we could be in store for some much needed rainfall early in the work week.

Rainfall totals of 1" to 2" could be possible by Wednesday.  It won't be for everyone, but thunderstorm coverage will become more widespread by Monday evening, and then again Tuesday evening.

The threat for strong to severe thunderstorms will be there both days, and possibly Wednesday, if the cold front slows down at all.  Once the front passes, the rain threat will decrease until the end of the week.
