Tornadic Weather Downstate this Afternoon

A tornado warning is active for northern Vermillion county in east-central Illinois this afternoon. A stalled-out cold front (now analyzed as a stationary front) combined with a surface low just to the west of Danville and a strong jet in the upper-atmosphere is triggering active thunderstorms in this area. ...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR NORTHERN VERMILION COUNTY UNTIL 145 PM CST...
AT 137 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THIS DANGEROUS STORM WAS LOCATED NEAR POTOMAC...OR 15 MILES NORTHWEST OF DANVILLE... MOVING EAST AT 50 MPH.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... ROSSVILLE...HENNING...ALVIN AND BISMARCK.

TAKE COVER NOW. MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A STURDY BUILDING. AVOID WINDOWS. IF IN A MOBILE HOME...A VEHICLE OR OUTDOORS...MOVE TO THE CLOSEST SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER AND PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FLYING DEBRIS.
