How Warm This Week?

The warm up is on! As forecast models hinted at last week, a warm up is beginning today in the Stateline. Not only will this pattern feature warming temperatures, but plenty of sunshine and light winds as well. The reason behind the anticipated warmer temperatures is because the trough that has been in place thus far this month will slide east and a ridge will build over the central portion of the United States. That ridge, combined with warm, southerly winds on the back side of a high pressure system will allow very mild air to surge north from the Southwest. And it won't be a warm up like we saw last Sunday that only lasted one day; it will last for over a week!
Take a look to the right at the temperature trend for this upcoming week into next weekend. While it won't be very warm to start the week in the upper 40's, there will be a steady and noticeable upwards trend in temperatures beginning on Wednesday when we could be flirting with the 60-degree mark in spots. In fact, we could see two to four days in a row feature 70's beginning on Friday! It seems like we have finally turned the corner from winter to spring.
