Very Warm Sunday Afternoon!

What a fantastic Sunday it was! We saw plenty of sunshine and very warm temperatures soaring into the middle 70's. The reason behind the surge of warmth was the strong southwesterly winds ahead of an approaching cold front. This was only the second time this year that we saw 70° -- the other occurring back on March 8th. Not only that, but today was the warmest day of 2016 thus far with an official high temperature at the airport of 75°. Some locations even reached the upper 70's closer to the Mississippi River! We were only five 5° shy a record high this afternoon!

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. In this case, that statement is completely true as temperatures are expected to drop significantly tonight into Monday.
We are still in the 70's early this evening, but as the cold front moves through, temperatures will begin their decline into the lower 30's by Monday morning. By the time we get to sunrise on Monday morning, we will have experienced a 40-degree temperature drop in just about 12 hours! Temperature swings of this nature are not completely uncommon, but this will be quite the change from shorts weather to coat weather in the matter of half a day. Looking ahead into next week, it looks like 40's and 50's will rule our high temperature department. Hopefully you were able to soak up some of the late spring weather we saw today!
