Blustery April Fool's Day!

With March now in the books, here is how the month stacked up for us in Rockford! March ended up below average in all categories including average high temperature, snowfall, and rainfall. In fact, 20 out of 31 days in March were below average!

It was a cloudy, calm, and chilly start to the first day of April. Temperatures and wind chills this morning dropped into the 20's. The story however for this April Fool's Day will be the winds. Right now, winds range between 5 mph in Sterling, to 20 mph in Galena. Galena has held the top report all morning!

A low pressure system and a warm front will move to the north of the region this afternoon. The tight pressure gradient caused by the two will bring blustery conditions to the Stateline. By noontime, winds will be gusting up towards 25 mph and then 35 mph by 4 PM. Then we should see wind gusts slowly drop into the 20 to 25 mph range heading into this evening as the warm front pushes to the northeast.

After today, we can expect breezy conditions to stick around into tomorrow. Winds will generally be out of the southwest still gusting up to 20 mph tonight and 25 mph during the day tomorrow!
