Southerly winds heading into the weekend will give temperatures a nice little boost into the upper 60s, to near 70 degrees, Saturday and Sunday.
Unfortunately the warmth will also come with a chance for rain and even a few thunderstorms late Saturday night and Sunday. Low pressure will move through the central Plains Friday night and Saturday morning. Ahead of the low a warmer air mass will be pulled northward pushing temperatures Saturday afternoon into the upper 60s.
Cloud cover from a weakening storm system to the northwest will be overhead during the first half of the day, but our skies should remain mostly dry.
As low pressure increases from the west cloud cover will also increase Saturday night. A few showers, and even a few rumbles of thunder, will be possible heading into Sunday morning. Scattered showers will be likely during the first half of Sunday ahead of a cold front. This cold front will swing through northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin Sunday evening drying skies heading into Monday.
There isn't much cold air behind the front, however, as highs on Monday will warm into the upper 60s to low 70s.
