A brief break from the heavy rain is expected going into the weekend but the break won't last long.
Skies have dried, but remain cloudy, Thursday evening following light showers Thursday afternoon. The cloud cover kept temperatures in the 40s through much of the day, only warming into the 50s this evening. Skies will remain mostly cloudy Thursday night, with a few spots clearing a little more into Friday morning. Where the skies do clear locally dense fog will be possible Friday morning.
High pressure moves in Friday before an upper level disturbance sweeps through the Upper Midwest. Moisture will be limited with this disturbance but we'll likely see the cloud cover on the increase by Friday afternoon and evening. An isolated light shower can't be ruled out Friday evening but most should stay dry.
Dry skies are expected Saturday going into Sunday with temperatures warming into the upper 60s, to near 70 degrees. A cold front will pass late Sunday bringing with it the return for showers and thunderstorms late Sunday night. That front will then become the focus for what looks to be an active and wet weather pattern early to mid week next week. Definitely something to keep an eye on following the heavy rainfall we've had the past four days.
